£33 could pay for a Macmillan nurse for an hour, helping people living with cancer and their families receive essential medical, practical and emotional support. They could explain to a person exactly what chemotherapy will mean for them, help them explain hair loss to their children so they won’t be frightened, refer them for counselling when things get a bit too much or celebrate with them on their one-year anniversary of being cancer free.
‘Julie started to become my friend as well. She was there whenever I was feeling down or if there was ever a time when I couldn’t tell my family or my friends how I was feeling.’ Megan, diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma |
